Well, it's tournament time for Janet's basketball team. They won their first game on Tuesday. The second game is tomorrow. They are playing crosstown rivals Wausau West. It'll be a tough game--during the regular season, West won one game and Everest won one.
On nights before a game, the team goes to one of the player's homes for a high carbohydrate meal. We took our turn in the very beginning of the season, but everybody has had a turn by now and since Janet is a captain, we thought we should take another turn. So tonight, we hosted "pasta party."
We served Grandma's Rolled Up Lasagna (Allred Cookbook), Alton Brown's Stovetop Mac 'n Cheese (http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,1977,FOOD_9936_18423,00.html) a vegetable plate and dip, Pillsbury Breadsticks (because they were on sale and are yummy), and for dessert, Cherry Pizza Pie and The Next Best Thing to Robert Redford. Plus, we had a gallon of white milk, a gallon of chocolate milk and a gallon of apple juice. It was all very tasty.
I spent 5 hours today cooking all that food and it took them 30 minutes max to eat it. I compare it to a hoard of locusts. They all swoop in, devour everything in sight, and leave again. Oh, well, if they win, it will have been worth it and if they don't, basketball season is OVER.
