I have always maintained that we have the absolute BEST children-in-law. I believe it more and more every day. Each one of them has qualities that are uniquely theirs that make them absolutely special (in good ways!)

Tracy is one of the most loving people I know. I think she would do anything to help someone else. She ponders on what she can do to be a better person and tries to do it. She is a great mom and is thoughtful about how to best take care of Afton and Logan. She truly does want the best for her family. She is happy, fun loving and friendly. People at work and at church always love her. She loves to read and that love has been translated to the kids. She is good at games and has whooped some of the competitive Scoresbys a time or two. She likes to tease, but always with love and good humor.

Shannon is also a people person. She makes friends wherever she goes. She is dedicated to the Church and has been a blessing to the Young Women she works with. Like Tracy, she is a terrific mom. She enjoys learning and excelled in college. She wants to be a good homemaker and since living here, has taken on cake decorating, canning, and expanding her cooking repertoire. She enjoys all kinds of craftiness and has made their house into a warm and happy home. When we get together, Shannon and I enjoy talking about all kinds of stuff (usually while Rene and Ben are watching sports.) Preston, besides being handsome, also gets along well with people. He is dedicated to the gospel and has a lot of self discipline. I love to see Preston interact with his parents and with his brother, Carl. He loves and honors them, and it shows. He is a peacemaker and when we get all hot and bothered about a game, he calms us all down. He is a hard worker, especially when it comes to taking care of his family. His schedule last year, when he worked from 8:30am to 10:00pm, was grueling but I never heard him complain, although I know he was relieved to be done.

All of them have had their own challenges in life. None of them are perfect and we like to tease them about some of their exploits. How about when Tracy drove her car off Squaw Peak? Or what about Shannon's run-in with VEET? Once Preston tied Pumpkin, his brother's dog, up to our deck and threw a ball for him to fetch and he pulled the railing off our deck! Don't worry; Preston helped Rene fix it.

We are blessed to be able to add another great son-in-law to our family this summer. We are so happy for Ben and Joanna. Ben is very bright and capable. He treats Joanna like a princess (and she's getting spoiled!) The last time they came to visit us, Ben got his computer out and showed us pictures of his home and family in Arizona. As he talked about them, there was a sweet tenderness in his voice that I loved. I can't wait to see what fun memories we will have that we can tease Ben about.
We have two more openings for sons-in-law. It will be exciting to see who fills those spots. Any takers?

Disclaimer: The good qualities mentioned above are only a few of many and are not comparisons!! I couldn't possibly mention every single wonderful thing!

Are you kidding? Ben is perfect and there won't be anything to tease him about.

What a sweet post Margaret! Thank you! I think I speak for Tracy, Preston, Ben J and 'whoever else' :) when I say that WE sure scored in the in-law department too!

Ps. Ben J--you are a total hottie in that picture! ;)

Margaret -- You're right that I'm not perfect (and also that I'm handsome), but I did not throw the ball to Pumpkin while she was tied to the deck. It was Janet.

And in consideration of that, I think it would be appropriate for someone to post about all of the things that Janet has broken.

uh-oh. That might be quite the extensive list of things I've broken. At least I never caught anything on fire.
But it was your dog anyway.
I used to like all my in-laws too, but then someone(Preston) had to ruin it.
Just kidding, I like you guys. Even if I think you looked like a nerd as a child (Ben).

I agree with Shannon- we did score in the in-law department.
