An Antigo High School student was arrested Saturday in Wausau after he ran nearly naked through the Wausau West High School Fieldhouse during a varsity boys basketball game, according to police.
A Wausau police officer found Robert J. Perdue, 18, of Antigo standing on West Union Avenue near North 10th Avenue a few blocks from the school with his hands covering his groin area, according to a police report. He was wearing a pair of light tan-colored men's bikini underwear, police said.
Perdue told police he'd been wearing the underwear -- almost flesh colored, an officer noted -- when he ran through the game.
An officer stated in the report that Perdue appeared to be cold and shivering. The temperature was about 15 degrees at 8 p.m., when the incident occurred.
Perdue told police it was a prank and that three other Antigo students had done similar acts this school year. He was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct after police learned that Perdue did not stop running when asked by school officials, pushed an associate principal as he ran from the building and refused to apologize, the report said.
When reached by phone Tuesday night, Perdue said neither he nor his parents could comment.
In the police report, Perdue stated that his actions were "stupid."
All I can say is "Duh!" I guess cabin fever must be even worse in Antigo than here. Interestingly enough, one of the streakers mentioned in the article above was at the Everest-Antigo game in Antigo last week. Unfortunately, none of the coaches or the girls even saw him. Darn! The first thing they knew about it was when the radio commentator asked after the game if the streaker disrupted their focus. I guess not.
